My Baby Shower List

First pregnancy, first baby… and you're totally lost in front of the Baby Shower list? No stress, we've all been there! The idea here is to pick items that will actually help you in your daily mom life. So, to help you out (and spare you hours of watching videos about it), I’m sharing my list of baby essentials with some item suggestions I’ve particularly loved. For my baby shower, I used the free Milirose site to create and share our list with our friends.

*This list is just a reference. It might be different for every mom, so go with what works for you! :)

Baby Clothes

  • Cotton bodysuits (these are mostly for 0-3 months, but I love them!)

  • Zippered pajamas (avoid the ones with buttons, trust me on this one)

  • Socks (to keep those little feet warm)

  • Bib (useful for all those moments when baby drools a lot)

  • Hat (especially at the beginning, babies lose heat through their heads)

  • Slippers (Bébé Ô Chaud also makes super cute and comfy ones, plus they’re from Quebec!)

Bath Time Essentials

Furniture and Bedding

Feeding Essentials

  • Bottles (if you're doing mixed feeding or bottle-feeding)

  • Bottle warmer (so convenient at night or on the go, and cheaper online than at the pharmacy!)

  • Bottle sterilizer (for effectively killing germs)

  • Pacifiers (in different sizes and types depending on baby’s age)

  • Breast pads (if you're breastfeeding)

  • Breast milk storage bags (if you're pumping)

Baby Care & Hygiene

Safety Accessories

  • Cabinet locks (or drawer locks)

  • Corner and edge protectors (to prevent injuries when baby starts crawling)

  • Safety gate (for stairs or other sensitive areas)

On-the-Go and Outings

  • Baby carrier or wrap (to keep baby close while keeping your hands free)

  • Diaper bag (this one is simple and super practical, but the Quebec brand Lambert also makes really nice ones)

  • Insulated lunch box (to keep baby’s meals warm or cold)

Activities & Stimulation

  • Play mat (with colors, textures, and hanging toys)

  • Books (it’s never too early to introduce baby to reading)

  • Stuffed animals or comfort toys (great for soothing baby)

  • Baby mobile (to attach to the crib and calm baby)

Other Suggestions

Second-hand Finds!

If you're comfortable with the idea, you can even ask your friends and family to gift you some of these items by looking for second-hand ones. You can find plenty of baby stuff in great condition at local thrift stores or on marketplace! It’s a great way to give items and clothes a second life while saving money, because let’s be real: babies are expensive!

Baby Shower Game Ideas

My friends hosted my baby shower with such flair, and I’m sharing some game ideas that were a big hit. I promise, we had so many laughs!

The Quiz Game

You can make a list of questions and the guests have to answer them.

Example:

  • Who’s going to be the most intense about baby-proofing the house?

  • Who’s going to change the most diapers?

  • Baby will have the same personality as...?

  • What’s hidden in my diaper?

It’s a simple game but so funny! The host blindfolds each person in turn and makes them smell 5 diapers with different scents (you can use whatever you have at home: mustard, vinegar, ketchup, etc.) The person who guesses the most scents wins.

Let the highest pile win!
Divide the guests into two teams. On “Go,” each team competes to build the tallest diaper tower in X seconds. The tallest (and still standing) tower wins.

Who’s the fastest?
For this game, you’ll need (yep) diapers and a big teddy bear. One by one, each person has to change Teddy’s diaper and put a new one on. The host times everyone, and the fastest wins.

That’s it! I hope you have an amazing shower! :)
